The family of Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid experienced life’s greatest sadness and joy during the same week this month.
On Jan. 11, Cid’s father Jose Manuel “Manolo” Cid, 73, of Miami Lakes passed away after a long illness.
The next day, Manny Cid’s wife Melissa Cid gave birth to their third child, a girl. They named her Hailey America Cid, after family matriarch America Gonzalez, Cid said.
On Facebook, her father called her their “princess baby” and said his wife and daughter were doing well.
Hailey joins big brothers Manny Jr. and Noah.
Cid posted arrangements for his father's funeral on Facebook.
A viewing will be held Jan. 23 from 5 p.m. to midnight at Rivero Caballero Funeral Home, 373 W. 9th St. in Hialeah. A funeral Mass will be held Jan. 24 at 9 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 701 W. 77th St., Hialeah. Interment will follow at Miami Memorial Park, 6200 SW 77th Ave., Miami.
