Miami Lakes Councilman Nelson Rodriguez has earned a distinction few local elected officials can claim.

Rodriguez, who was elected to the Town Council in 2012, was recently inducted into the Miami-Dade County League of Cities (MDCLC) Board of Directors at the organization’s 60th annual installation gala at the Jungle Island in Miami.

As part of his invitation to be inducted, Rodriguez, a Coral Gables firefighter, completed the Florida League of Cities Institute for Elected Municipal Officials (IEMO) Program in December.

Rodriguez was honored to be a part of a League which offers support to uphold the integrity of Miami-Dade County’s cities.

"It's a privilege to represent the Town at the League," said Rodriguez. "This gives us the opportunity to work alongside other City and County leaders in moving our Town forward."

The MDCLC Board of Directors is comprised of local government leaders who continuously offer support to upholding the integrity of Miami-Dade County's Cities. The Miami-Dade County League of Cities was formed in 1953 for the purpose of assisting its members in cultivating and maintaining the most proficient ways of administering government for the general welfare of the residents and businesses in the County.
