Miami Lakes was recently awarded $40,000 from the Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to assist with the design and development of the Complete Streets Implementation Plan.

Through the Strategic Planning process and workshops with local agencies, mobility enhancement was identified as the Town’s number one goal in the 2025 Strategic Plan. This grant will allow the Town to hire a consultant that will identify specific locations and provide conception design solutions for the implementation of Complete Streets.

The Complete Streets concept integrates people and place in the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transportation networks, and are designed to enable safe access for all users.

Complete Streets can offer many benefits to all communities including bolstering economic growth and stability by providing accessible and efficient connections between residences, schools, parks, public transportation, offices, and retail destinations.

“I am pleased that the County has provided us with a grant to implement out Town’s Complete Streets Plan,” said Mayor Michael Pizzi. “The Complete Streets approach adopted by the Town will move Miami Lakes inn the direction of more bike paths, walkways, and make us a more pedestrian-friendly community, instead of all car traffic. We thank the MPO for this grant.”
