Sports Hall of Fame Committee chooses class for Dec. 10 ceremony

The public is invited to celebrate the fifth class to be inducted to the Miami Lakes Sports Hall of Fame during a ceremony to be held Dec. 10.
The event will honor athletes and those who have coached or mentored youth sports, who have ties to town.
The new class members are the late Charlie DeLucca, Sr., a youth golf ambassador and children’s advocate; retired NBA point guard Steve Blake; Gary Krey, former baseball coach at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School and Terry Curry, a coach in the Optimist Club program.
They will be in terrific company.
Plaques with their photos and accomplishments will hang in the Optimist Park Clubhouse, alongside those displayed for Chris Corchiani; George Deming; Gustavo “Gus” Gandarillas; Roland Gomez; William Graham; Jim Hamilton; Jim Mandich; Jack McCall; Tony Nathan; Alex Ochoa; Miriam Ochoa; David Oliver; Joel Rodriguez; Howard Schnellenberger; Don Shula; Sara Sidner; Mike Uspensky and Javier Zapata.
They have contributed to sports in national arenas, stadiums and in Miami Lakes.
The ceremony will be held in Optimist Park, 6411 NW 162nd St. It begins at 7 p.m.
