The Miami Lakes Town Foundation is accepting grant applications from community groups, school clubs or teams or other town organizations that support literacy, continuing education, youth or beautification projects or cultural events.
Up to 20 grants worth up to $2,500 each will be awarded, the foundation said.
The grants are funded from proceeds of the annual Miami Lakes Food & Wine Festival, and the next one will be held Feb. 4, 2023.
The deadline to submit a grant application is Sept. 20.
Awards will be announced the week of Sept. 26, and checks presented the week of Oct. 3.
All projects funded by the grants must be completed by April 28, 2023.
A grantee report must be prepared and project sites will be visited by the foundation. Its board members are President Edward Pidermann (who is also the town manager); Secretary Gina Inguanzo (who is also town clerk); Treasurer Kay Grant (the town's chief financial officer) and Directors Clarisell de Cardenas (town spokeswoman) and Fred Senra, business owner, president of the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce.
