Miami Lakes once again has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, awarded by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States, for its comprehensive annual financial report for fiscal year 2016-2017.
The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and is earned by complying with several factors including, but not limited to, compliance with standard requirements, progressive reporting, and outstanding transparency.
Miami Lakes has received this award since 2010, and as a standard, continues to make improvements. The Town’s comprehensive annual financial report has been judged to meet the highest standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story, and motivate potential users and user groups to read the annual financial report.
The Town Council and staff take pride in their continued efforts to increase transparency.
