In partnership with the Alliance for Aging, Miami Lakes will offer two new free senior programs starting in May at the Roberto Alonso Community Center in Royal Oaks Park.

Living Healthy begins May 10 and will be held every Tuesday to June 14 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This six-week program teaches participants how to stay active and enjoy life and offers new skills for living with chronic diseases like arthritis, heart disease, cancer, bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, and epilepsy.

Attendees will learn how to manage symptoms, use medication effectively, communicate better about their health with friends and family, and much more.

Diabetes Self-Management begins May 12 and will be held every Thursday to June 16 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Roberto Alonso Community Center.

This six-week program is aimed at finding practical ways to deal with diabetes, discover better nutrition and exercise choices, and set goals to improve participants’ health and lives.

Space is limited for the two courses. For more information or to register, contact Kristina Labossiere at labossiere@miamilakes-fl.gov or 305-698-9308.
