Bald Eagle nesting pair halts 87th Avenue project

  Miami-Dade County’s Northwest 87th Avenue expansion and roadway improvement project has been delayed after construction workers spotted two American Bald Eagles and a nest in a tree located near the unincorporated community of Palm Springs North at approximately N.W. 181 Street. Miami Lakes Youth Activities Task Force continues the free Movies in the Park series featuring blockbuster films every other Friday evening through March. Showtime is 8 p.m. at Miami Lakes Park West, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue. Attendees are encouraged to bring their appetites as there will be a variety of food trucks on site. The final Movies in the Park feature is “Finding Nemo” on Friday, March 27.
  Only applications (not payments) are due by March 27 for the Town’s Code Enforcement Lien Amnesty Program, an incentive to property owners with outstanding liens to bring their property into compliance at a discounted rate. Both residential and commercial property owners are eligible to apply for as much as an 85 percent reduction in the amount owed on their lien.   When Michael Barcelo was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 3 years-old, his friends and classmates at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School rallied to his aid and helped raise money for people who were stricken with the deadly disease.
