Hialeah Gardens High School language arts teacher Christine Rodriguez was a finalist and first runner-up for the 2015 Francisco R. Walker Miami-Dade County Teacher of the Year Award. Geoffrey Aladro, a U.S. history teacher at Frank C. Martin K-8 Center, won the top honors two weeks ago during a special dinner at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport and Convention Center.

Miami Lakes residents Jennine Perez and Reggy Rodriguez first met as students at Barbara Goleman Senior High School. Nine years have passed since they first began dating and on Christmas Eve 2014, Rodriguez proposed to Perez. Family and friends are looking forward to the wedding set for summer 2016.
