Local Junior golfer and Miami Lakes K-8 Center student, Ian Christopher Rodriguez, earned a second place tie in the finals of the Youth Sports Championship Series hosted by Miami-Dade County Mayor, Carlos Gimenez. Three days later Rodriguez was awarded Overall Boys Champion at the summer  Junior Golf Series at Miami Springs Country Club.

On Tuesday, August 19, American Senior High School recognized sophomore Ciloe Flores who earned a perfect score on the FCAT 2.0 Reading.
