The Miami-Dade County Solid Waste Department collection trucks can reach 5-feet onto the swale or driveway to retrieve their containers. Residents should not place their containers in the paved part of the right of way, or they may be liable for damage to a passing vehicle. Residents are asked to separate waste and recycling containers at least 3-feet from each other.

Town staff wears blue for Autism Day

In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, the Town of Miami Lakes staff wore blue on April 2 to participate in Light It Up Blue, a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month. Mayor Wayne Slaton and the Town Council voted unanimously to proclaim April as Autism Awareness Month in the town during the April 8 Council meeting.
