Alan Barrera of Homestead showed off his 1954 Oldsmobile at the Miami Lakes Cars for a Cure auto show on April 6.
His ride, that he estimated cost $30,000 to restore, is one of three in his collection.
“It’s good, it’s beautiful,” Barrera said of the show that brought crowds to Main Street. It was Barrera’s first time as a participant. “I love cars.”
He said he’s owned the Oldsmobile for “too many years” but that his hobby was worth it, and that the beautiful car gets a lot of looks when he takes it on the road.
It was the 9th Annual show, presented by the Alonso family in tribute to their late patriarch, former Vice Mayor Roberto Alonso.
In 2024, the family donated $50,000 from show proceeds toward pediatric brain cancer research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami Health System.
