Julian Lunsford loves dogs. When The Miami Laker newspaper arrives at his home, he looks to see if there is a Pets of Miami Lakes column which features photos that readers share.
Julian’s goal was to get Oreo, his family’s 2-year-old poodle, into the Laker’s pages and the boy, 9, succeeds with this issue.
“Julian is dying to have Oreo in the newspaper,” his mother Melissa Lunsford said. “Whenever the newspaper arrives at our house, Julian always looks for the dog pictures, at the Community Calendar and to see if he knows anyone in Town Topics [the person on the street column].”
As for Oreo, he also keeps the family -- which includes Melissa’s husband James Lunsford and their daughter Miranda Lunsford, 7, -- entertained with his many skills.
“He loves people and is obsessed with playing fetch,” Melissa Lunsford said. “He keeps a close eye on all squirrels, ducks, birds and lizards on the street. And he can catch a ball in mid-air.”
