Adventure Begins with Teen Book Reviews  Wed., Sept. 4, 11, 18  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Read a book and your written review will be featured in the library’s online catalog. Earn four hours of community service.  Ages 13 – 18

Create Your Own Vision Board  Wed., Sept. 4  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Create a vision board with images that inspire you and help you focus your plans for the future. Materials provided.  Ages 13 – 19

Tai Chi for Beginners   Fri., Sept. 6, 20  10 a.m. – 11 a.m.  Practice the ancient art of gentle movements to increase strength, flexibility and balance. Led by library staff.  Ages 19+

Homework Help & Tutoring  Sat., Sept. 7, 14, 21  10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Certified teachers tutor students in reading, math and science for one-hour sessions. For grades K-12. STEM Saturday  Sat., Sept. 7   2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Enjoy a hands-on STEM activity with FIU undergraduate and medical students. Mate-rials provided. Made possible by the Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP.   Ages 5 – 15

Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing for toddlers en dos idiomas   Tues., Sept. 10  11 a.m. – Noon.  Toddlers and caregivers will hear stories, sing songs and enjoy activities in both English and Spanish. Registration required, call 305-822-6520.  Ages 18 mos. – 3

Gear Up for the Mario Kart 8 Tournament  Wed., Sept. 11  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.   A practice session for Mario Kart 8. Hone your driving skills for the upcoming tour-nament. Games will be played on controllers provided by the library.  Ages 13 – 19

Know Your Rights  Thurs., Sept. 12   1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  A representative from the Miami-Dade County Commission on Human Rights will discuss protecting yourself and others against discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations. Learn your rights and steps to take if discrimination happens.  Ages 19+

Library Card Design Contest for Teens Drawing session  Wed., Sept. 18  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Work on a submission that could be a winning design and appear on a limited edition library card available at all locations. Ages 13 – 19

Talk Crafty to Me!  Thurs., Sept. 19   11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.    Make cool crafts and meet other creatives. Materials provided. Registration required, call 305-822-6520.

Talk Like a Pirate Day  Thurs., Sept. 19  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Join the library for some pirate-themed fun.  Ages 8+

     The library at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd. is open Monday - Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Closed Sunday.
