Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer will be conducting its annual chlorine conversion through Sept. 22.

Residents may notice a chlorine taste, smell or cloudy water, a release from the Town of Miami Lakes said.

Chlorination is part of the water treatment process and is considered to be an effective and safe method to treat water, according to the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer department.

The taste, smelly and cloudy water are normal. If water is cloudy, residents should let their taps run for 3-to-5 minutes. Water supplied by the county during this period is safe to drink, cook and bathe with.
