Meet Sabrina Alonso, a new intern with The Miami Laker who joined the staff in March.
Sabrina, 16, is a sophomore at Miami Lakes Educational Center.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to expand my horizons and get reporting experience,” she said about the internship.
Sabrina lives in town with her parents Juve and Christina Alonso and her sister, Adrianna, 10.
Sabrina will report at town council meetings and community events.
This is her first professional journalism job. She is also on the staff of The Harbinger, the newspaper at her high school.
Miami Lakes Mayor Josh Dieguez appointed Sabrina in March to the town’s Youth Activities Task Force, where she’ll help stage events in town such as Nightmare on Montrose Halloween event and on April 19, the Spring Fling Easter Egg Hunt.
