The Miami Foundation is about to launch its 14th Give Miami Day on Nov. 20. The donation window opens on Nov. 15.

The organization coordinates donations to more than 1,000 local non-profits in a single 24-hour event. It hopes to surpass last year’s record $39.5 million contributions.

Gifts start at $25. The Miami Foundation has wealthy donors who will match gifts, too.

“This is our moment to stand together and give back,” Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, president and chief executive officer of The Miami Foundation said in a press release. “The unity and goodness that is unleashed has a massive ripple effect on every part of Miami. There is no other day like it.”

People can target their charity donations to causes and projects close to home.

Groups such as the Main Street Players; PTAs with Hialeah-Miami Lakes and Bob Graham Education Center; South Florida Autism Center; Miami Youth Orchestra; First Tee Miami; Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative; The Education Fund and Ballet Etudes of South Florida are just some of the schools and non-profits that are based in Miami Lakes and Hialeah.

It’s easy to find a worthy cause.

Go to GiveMiamiDay.org and search in the left- hand column for organizations.

By entering locations such as Miami Lakes, Hialeah or Miami Gardens, logos for groups appear and one click will open their web page.
