The National Credit Union Administration approved JetStream Federal Credit Union’s application to expand its community charter to include Broward County, the financial cooperative said in a media statement on April 27.
“This is a transformative moment for JetStream,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Jeanne Kucey.
“Expanding into Broward County allows us to bring our member-first philosophy to a broader audience while continuing to strengthen our presence in South Florida,” she said. “We are excited to welcome new members and build lasting relationships in this vibrant community.”
The National Credit Union Administration is a federal agency that insures deposits at federally insured credit unions and regulations them, its website says.
The 78-year-old credit union’s territory includes branches in Miami Lakes, Doral, at Mercy Hospital in Coconut Grove and in Puerto Rico.
Customers may also access accounts at shared branch locations and at Citibank ATMs.
People who live, work, worship or attend school in Broward County, as well as businesses and other legal entities located there are eligible to apply for membership.
The credit union said it has $290 million in assets and serves 15,000 members.
