Baptist Health Emergency Center opens in Miami Lakes

Miami Lakers who may be stricken with a heart attack or stroke won’t have to go far for help.

Baptist Health Emergency Care has opened in town, at 15200 NW 77th Court.

It’s the fourth freestanding emergency room that the company has built in South Florida. The others are in West Kendall (Country Walk); Miami (Coral Way West) and (west) Boca Raton.

Town officials and company executives cut a ribbon on March 3 at the 19,700 square feet building that is across the street from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Station 64.

The new ER was expected to accept patients on March 6.

“Baptist has been a wonderful partner to us over the years and we’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of this new emergency room,” said Laura W. Ratliff, Vice President, Commercial for The Graham Companies, which leases the land to the hospital. “We look forward to them expanding how they serve the community in this new, beautiful facility.”

Open 24/7, it has labs, a pharmacy and advanced imaging services including CAT scans, ultrasounds and X-rays.  There is a triage area and 20 private exam rooms. Staff will treat adults and children.

Patients will not stay overnight. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue will take those who need additional care to Baptist Health Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables

Miami Lakes Councilman Alex Sanchez said, “It is a promise to our community that high quality emergency medical care is now even closer to home, in our very own backyard. …This facility will ensure that help is never far away.”

For about 20 years, Baptist Health has operated an urgent care facility in town on the east side of the Palmetto Expressway at 14701 NW 77th Ave

The new ER “is equipped with the latest technology we have brought here to this community to be able to provide the care that you all need, at a higher level,” said Ana Lopez Blazquez, Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer for Baptist Health Enterprises.
