Beacon Council honors two Miami Lakes businesses

Miami Lakes Mayor Wayne Slaton and Town Manager Alex Rey joined Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and the Beacon Council on December 10 in recognizing two of the town’s local businesses - Sweepy Group Products and Cummins Power South, LLC.

The two companies were among 39 companies honored for establishing or expanding operations in Miami-Dade County during the Beacon Council’s 2014 Key Ceremony and Holiday Reception at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami.

Sweepy Group Products is a family-owned start-up company that manufactures snack pack products. Opening in April 2014 in their 32,000 square-foot factory, Sweepy has brought new jobs and additional capital investment dollars to Miami Lakes.

Cummins Power South, LLC is Florida’s expert diesel engine service specialists. Cummins serves a diverse customer base in the trucking, transit, refuse, marine, utilities and construction industries throughout the state. The firm’s first South Florida location is currently under construction in northeast Miami Lakes.
