Cars from every decade, even cars from pop culture like Transformers’ Bumblebee and a Delorean reminiscent of Back to the Future, lined Main Street where residents and visitors alike weaved through shops and streets to get a better look.
The Cars for a Cure event, led by Roberto Alonso Jr., was created in honor of Roberto Alonso Sr., the first Vice Mayor of Miami Lakes who died of cancer in 2013. Alonso Jr. honors his father’s memory by coordinating the event and donating the proceeds to the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The event, which took place on Sunday, April 2, had a successful turnout with visitors posing next to their favorite cars and food stations serving up fresh and delicious food and beverages from neighboring restaurants like Cuban Guys Restaurant and Mac Pub’s Classic Truck Bar.
