Miami Lakes hosted its 20th annual Fourth of July fireworks display at Veterans Park. This year’s event included a visit by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez, who are both campaigning in 2024 races: Levine Cava for mayor and Ramirez for sheriff.

Independence Day revelers enjoyed free music, food and fun at the community event that is put on in part by the Cultural Affairs Committee.

Also in attendance were Fla. Rep. Tom Fabricio, R-Miami Lakes and state Sen. Bryan Avila, R-Hialeah Gardens, who presented the town with a check to represent $2.1 million the state awarded on June 15 for construction of a bridge on Northwest 59th Avenue and the Montrose Road drainage project. At Mary Collins Community Center, the Special Needs Advisory Board held the town’s first sensory room for residents who received noise-canceling headphones and played games.

Sponsors included The Graham Companies; Memorial Healthcare System which presented the Kids’ Zone; Miami Lakes AutoMall; Prestige Windows & Doors; The Spot Barbershop; Great Waste and Bite Pediatric Dentistry.
