Miami Lakes Educational Center (MLEC) is enjoying a great school year. Not only do the Jaguars have the highest high school graduation rate in the region, it is an "A" school for the seventh time according to recent data released by the state.

The accomplishments met at MLEC called for a celebration. At the last pep rally for the 2013 year, as per tradition, the MLEC students filed into the gymnasium and settled in to watch principal James Parker have his head shaved by Student Government Association (SGA) officers and other students.

Initially, students were hesitant but in a few short moments his hair and mustache vanished.

"It was so weird shaving and cutting his hair. I was scared because he is my principal! But I think it is pretty cool how he does this in honor of our school and takes pride in it," said freshman Cesar Zafra.

Parker sat on a wooden stool in the middle of the gymnasium and SGA president Daniella Frissora got straight to work. After each officer took a turn, Parker called down other students to join in.
