History
Lake Sandra is a 110-unit townhome community on the west side of Miami Lakes.
The lake is named for the late Sandra Graham Younts, eldest daughter of town developer Bill Graham and his wife Pat Graham.
The townhomes were built in 1981. They are enclosed within a low wall and bordered by Montrose Road, Rednock Lane, Dundee Terrace and
Balgowan Road.
Lake Sandra is south of Northwest 154th Street and west of the Palmetto
Expressway.
Amenities
The community has four open green spaces that belong to the town. One of its best features is its location right next to Picnic Park West.
The park attracts exercisers and has hosted the Farmer’s Market and a free yoga class on Saturdays and nighttime movies shown by the town.
Who lives there?
Van Toth, a former president of the Homeowner’s Association and his wife Vivian Toth have called Lake Sandra home for 25 years.
“It’s a nice and peaceful community,” Vivian Toth said. “We love the community.”
Also close by is the Park Centre Shops, at Northwest 154th Street and 79th Court.
There are hair and nail salons, pastry and ice cream stores, restaurants that offer Greek, Latin,
Japanese, Chinese,
Mexican and other cuisines as well as coffee shops, including a Starbucks.
What does it cost?
Townhomes are single story or two floors, and have two or four bedrooms and two baths. Lakefront residents pay $1,500 a year in HOA fees; for those with dry lots, it’s $1,000, according to Van Toth. Fees pay for maintenace of the lake, perimeter wall, driveway and landscaping.
There are no homes for sale, according to
Gabriel Baratto, a Realtor with the Art Rodriguez team at Coldwell Banker in Miami Lakes.
He said six townhomes were sold during the past 12 months, with an average sale price of $340,000.
The last sale was for $350,000, Baratto said.
