Our Neighborhoods: The east side of town

On the east side of Miami Lakes, snug against Red Road and north of Miami Lakes Drive, you’ll find a collection of warehouses.

The neighborhood is where Northwest 59 Avenue abruptly ends. It is below a canal and a patch of land lighted for airplanes preparing to land at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, which is on the east side of Red Road.

Businesses that suit every need and want fill three warehouses along Northwest 57th Court. One of them is Zeta Event Productions, which is owned by events director Roxy Quevedo.

“We just like the neighborhood, we like the people that live there, we like Main Street, it’s iconic,” Quevedo said about why she moved the company there five years ago from Hialeah Gardens.

Zeta Event Productions is a full-service business that specializes in creating full-scale weddings and events such as quinceañeras (Sweet 15 parties), as well as decorations; photography; videography; lighting and DJ services.

While Miami Lakes’ charm was a draw, Quevedo says she’s also close to Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, where she is a preferred vendor.

Quevedo said she also produces corporate events and festivals for municipal governments.

It’s that huge variety of clients that brought the business to the neighborhood where it could be easily found.

“We know it’s a high-traffic area,” Quevedo said. Like many other business owners in town, she described Miami Lakes as being in the middle of everything and close to Broward County too.

“Same thing going into the beach or [going] west, we feel it’s very centralized,” Quevedo said.

While Zeta takes up a small corner in the large warehouse block, neighbor LaDove Inc. takes up a whole corner, at Northwest 57th Avenue and Miami Lakes Drive.

LaDove Inc. manufactures hair care products for a variety of labels. Its Miami Lakes facility also does research and development, according to its website.

Other businesses include JumpStart Child Enrichment Center and its Infant Enrichment Center; Cabrera Photography; South Florida Pulmonary Care; Equipamos diagnostic medical equipment; All in One Care Solutions, LLC which specializes in various aspects of patient care; Physical 4 U, Inc. home health care agency; Bleu Bayou, women’s clothing company; Italiana Diffusione Cosmetica, an Italian cosmetics company and Areda Construction
