Miami Lakes resident Ramiro Inguanzo was recently appointed by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimemez to serve on his Local Action Team Task Force for Safer People, Safer Streets.
The task force is charged with developing an action plan of high level legislative, educational, engineering and enforcement recommendations to improve the safety of Miami-Dade’s streets. The County has brought together representatives from various fields to reduce bicycle and pedestrian fatalities and injuries.
“Given the Town's recent legislative efforts and focus on traffic and transportation issues, I think that my appointment to this Task Force is timely and I plan to make sure I keep the Town's needs in mind when making recommendations,” said Inguanzo.
Inguanzo joins a host of other appointed action members from law firms, health foundations, transportation advisory committees, and more to research existing practices, identify national best practices to be adopted in Miami-Dade; hold a public meeting to solicit input, and expects to release its findings in March.
Among the appointed members are Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 6 Secretary Gus Pago, Miami-Dade County Director of Transportation and Public Works Alice Bravo, Citizens' Independent Transportation Trust Chair Paul Schweip and newly installed Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez.
