The 11th Annual Breanna Vergara Foundation 5K and Color Run

     Hundreds of supporters turned out for the Breanna Vergara Foundation’s 5K and Fun Run in Veterans Park on Feb. 22.

     Shown in a photo at the race is Tony Fernandez, former vice mayor and current member of the Charter Revision Commission, enjoying the fun with friends.

     It was all for a serious purpose: Promoting pediatric heart screenings to prevent early death from hidden causes, like what took the life of 11-year-old dancer Breanna Vergara. 

     The foundation funds heart screenings at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, donates automated external defibrillators to youth play spaces and supports CPR and AED training.
