Miami Lakes Town Manager Edward Pidermann, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Maj. Jose Gonzalez and Mayor Josh Dieguez walked up and down Miami Lakes Drive on March 14 to study traffic patterns during the morning rush hour and see how traffic lights were synchronized again.
The trio watched the coordinated signals and vehicles stopping less frequently along the town’s main road as well as at Northwest 79th Court, where in 2024, new traffic lights were installed at the entrance to Business Park West.
Lights became unsynchronized during the first week in March, causing traffic backups along the town’s main drive for several days.
“… Unfortunately, it was messed up by the county, creating all sorts of chaos,” Dieguez said at the March 18 council meeting.
Dieguez praised Gonzalez for the educational tour and for keeping an officer in the westbound lane that turns south onto Northwest 77th Court. That officer helps keep the traffic flowing smoothly during the morning rush hour, Dieguez said.
