The Miami Lakes Small Business Lotto returns this fall to inspire people to shop local.
The lottery, which was started by Trelles Cottage owner Kimberly Trelles, invites shoppers to fill out a bingo card by shopping small in Miami Lakes.
For every square a shopper fills, they get an entry into January’s $500 grand prize drawing as well as prizes from the businesses. Participating business stamp your card when you make a purchase.
Businesses and sponsors have until September 18 to sign up - although if they want to take part, they should reach out ASAP.
“The business deadline is September 18, but also when spaces (on the card) run out,” Trelles said.
Sponsors can sign up until the 18th and are not limited to spaces on the bingo card.
“A lot of last year’s businesses have pre-registered,” Trelles said. “So, you’ll see some familiar names, maybe some new ones as well.”
This year Trelles plans to up her social media efforts to get a further reach for the lotto; those who follow her on social media may see some familiar influencers helping get the word out.
Trelles started the lottery in 2025 to help encourage people to do their shopping at local businesses instead of using big box retailers or Amazon for holiday gifts.
Once businesses are signed up and announced, cards for the lotto can be picked up at participating businesses or at The Trelles Cottage.
The lotto runs from November 2 to January 9, with winners announced at the first Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
