Parents interested in getting their kids into scouting have the opportunity to bring them out as a local group prepares for its first meetings of the new school year.
Boy Scouts Unit 529 offers groups for boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 12th. Cub Scout Pack 529, for students in grades K through 5, meets in the art room at Bob Graham Education Center, Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. The group’s first meeting of the school year is September 9.
Girl Troop 529 and Boy Troop 529, for 6th through 12th grade, meet in the American High School cafeteria at 7 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys) on Tuesdays.
Sea Scout Ship 529 (high school students) meets at the Mary Collins Community Center and at marinas.
Unit 529 has been scouting for more than 55 years. They focus on adventures, competitions, leadership training, life skills development and family fun.
