Vice Mayor Bryan Morera has announced his bid to seek re-election.

Morera, 34, who founded Morera Law Group, a commercial litigation and business firm, will be running again for Seat 6 on Nov. 3, 2026.

He has held the seat since 2024, when he won an election to replace former Vice Mayor Carlos Alvarez.

In Nov. 2025, the council selected Morera for a second time to serve as its Vice Mayor, a post he has held since Nov. 2024.

In an email sent on Jan. 16, Morera wrote, “I am grateful for the trust residents placed in me two years ago and throughout the course of my term.”

Morera said there was more work still to be done and that “the responsibility of protecting Miami Lakes’ small-town character from overdevelopment is ongoing.”

About his work during two years on the council, Morera said he was most proud of “revolutionizing our overall budget strategy to decrease dependency on property taxes and reduce the tax burden on residents...”

Also, “... spearheading the reinstatement of the town’s Senior Tax Rebate, sponsoring the initiation of litigation to protect residents from the effects of rock mine blasting and successfully advocating for full funding of the town’s right-of-way and park maintenance cycles for the first time in over five years.”

He wrote that he was also proud of his daily interactions with residents.

“I look forward to engaging with residents throughout the campaign and earning their continued trust and support,” Morera said.
