Shula’s Athletic Club recently celebrated the opening of an expanded personal training area by introducing the Thrive Functional Training System, a unique regimen named the “Best New Workout Program” for 2014 by Men’s Health Magazine.

Created by Mike Boyle, a world-renowned strength coach, the program employs the same principles he has used to train world-class athletes, including the 2013 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox and the 2014 Silver-Medal U.S. Women’s Olympic Hockey Team. The program, however, can be customized to anyone’s age, goal or fitness level.

Among Shula’s wide-ranging offerings are an innovative youth sports program including junior and adult tennis, nutrition counseling workshops, and a large variety of fitness classes such as yoga, Pilates, Silver Sneakers, group exercise, and aqua aerobics.

“Our priority has always been to maintain the best fitness training facility in the area, offering the most cutting-edge training methods,” said Shula’s Athletic Club general manager, Bill Higgs. “I’m excited to see what new fitness heights our members will reach as we deliver the nation’s leading performance program in our newly expanded training area.”
