Miami Lakes held the 2018 Annual Community Recital on May 18 at Barbara Goleman Senior High School where over 200 residents of all ages showcased their talents learned over the last year in one of the Town’s programs.
Featuring programs included Tai-Chi, line dancing, yoga, ballet, martial arts and jazz.
At this year’s event, the Town recognized four deserving instructors for their 10 years of service including Anthony Lee (martial arts), Clary Garcia Ramos (yoga), Ileana Portier (Tai Chi and martial arts), and Melissa Zunigas (ballet and jazz).
The Town also recognized resident Michael J. Perez for becoming a black-belt through the martial arts program.
“The community recital was an amazing event which showcased the best of our community,” said Councilmember Luis Collazo. “The event featured the hard work put forth by our teachers and students. I was particularly honored to recognize the four instructors for their 10 years of service.”
Youth recreational programming will begin again in the fall. Registration for adult yoga, line dancing, Spanish and painting will open on August 13.
