Florida International University sophomore defender Emily Baragar was named to the Conference USA InTouch Credit Union Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team for her stellar performances in the classroom and on the soccer field.
The Virginia Beach native was near perfect in the classroom in her first year at FIU during the 2015-16 academic year, on her course of study towards a degree in biomedical engineering. She was the team leader in GPA among returning players, and plans to become an engineer upon graduation.
Playing in 16 of the team's 17 contests this fall, Baragar produced the game-winning assist in overtime to help the Panthers grab a road Conference USA win at Middle Tennessee on October 2 for her first career point. She took three shots this season, with one of them coming on goal during the season.
