Ex-FIU catcher off to great start with San Francisco

San Francisco Giants rookie Aramis Garcia homered in his first Major League Baseball hit in his debut against the New York Mets on August 31. The former Florida International University catcher hit a solo home run off Mets reliever Robert Gsellman in the bottom of the eighth inning of the Giants' 7-0 win. Later in the six-run eighth inning for the Giants, Garcia had an RBI single. He was 2 for 4 with two RBI. Garcia played at FIU from 2012-14. He was the 2014 Conference USA Player of the Year for the Panthers when he hit .368 with eight home runs and 37 RBI.
