After leading the Panther’s offensive line in a 35-32 victory in the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl, Florida International University’s graduate senior Jordan Budwig was named to the Associated Press All-Bowl Team, the organization announced following the game.
Budwig is the only offensive lineman from Conference USA named to the list, while being just one of four league players overall given the prestigious honor.
Budwig shielded junior quarterback Christian Alexander, who was making his first career start in the bowl game in place of injured C-USA Newcomer of the Year junior quarterback James Morgan.
Alexander passed for a FIU bowl record 209 yards, while running back Anthony Jones rushed for a bowl record three touchdowns. The Panthers rushed for 236 yards overall against the Rockets. The start at left guard for Budwig was his 50th-straight overall, which is a career best at FIU.
The Fort Lauderdale native didn't allow a sack all season, anchoring an FIU offensive line that only gave up eight sacks for the entire 2018 season. The eight sacks is an all-time season low for FIU, while ranking third-best in the NCAA this season.
