Cassidy Zeigler, who has played for the Miami Lakes Optimist Club she was 8 years-old and currently plays for coach Alex Castroman on the Miami Lakes Heat Travel team, got a pivotal win recently for her Monsignor Pace softball team.

Zeigler has been pitching for the past four years and recorded the win to secure the Spartans the No. 2 spot in their district with the win against St. Brendan.

“She’s an all around player,” said Castroman. “She does whatever is asked without complaining and plays with heart.”

Cassidy is just one of many girls who have played in the Optimist program and has achieved great heights in this sport. Her father, James Zeigler, has been coaching at Miami Lakes Optimist for the past seven years and has been an assistant coach at Pace for several years as well.

“I am extremely proud of her, as are the members of the Optimist Club,” Ziegler  said.
