Goleman football handed first loss by M. Springs

Local high school football notes:

• Miami Springs handed Barbara Goleman its first loss of the season last week, a 28-0, blowout in a key district game.

The Golden Hawks (2-1) scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, scored one touchdown in the second and put the game way out of reach by crossing the end zone early in the fourth quarter.
Goleman (2-1) played Reagan (1-2) on Monday, October 2, a make up game from Hurricane Irma (results not availabe at press time.)

Monsignor Pace 2-1) faces Hialeah (2-1) on Friday, October 6 after the Spartans defeated Palm Glades Prep Academy 39-0 on September 29.

American (0-3-1) and Hialeah Miami Lakes (0-3) will be looking for their first win of the season when they face off on Friday, October 6.

The Patriots’ chances of reaching the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season is in jeopardy after North Miami shut them out, 14-0.

Defending state champion Carol City blew out the Trojans, 55-0, last week and Palmetto scored 50 points against Hialeah-Miami Lakes the previous week.

Mater Academy (1-3) will try to bounce back against when the Lions play Mourning (1-2) on Friday, October 13.

Doral Academy (3-1) cruised to a 47-19 victory over Mater Academy the previous week.
