Miami Lakes United Soccer Club’s U14 girls’ team won the 2017 ESPN Disney Memorial Day Soccer Shootout tournament, which took place from May 26 to 29.
Braving the extreme Orlando heat and four games in three days, the team went a perfect 4-0 with only one goal scored against them throughout the entire tournament.
Head coach Andrew Sewell said: “My girls have worked extremely hard throughout the season learning the fundamentals and understanding what it takes to work as a unit. We often refer to the acronym T.E.A.M. which means (Together Everyone Achieves More). The weekend at ESPN is a result of determination and heart with all 15 players knowing how to win and what the true definition of a champion is. They went into each game understanding possession and position, two key components for our success.”
As the team closes out their season with a victory, they hope to continue the trend next year as they continue to grow as a team together as champions.
