Local student-athletes are named to Miami Herald fall sports All-dade teams

A group of local student-athletes were honored for their stellar performances this season, as they were named to The Miami Herald All-Dade teams in football, volleyball, golf, and cross country. 

The 8A-6A First Team offense includes Mater Academy senior running back Daniel Doriscar, who rushed for 1,049 yard on 151 carries and scored 17 touchdowns. 

Third team defense included Mater Academy linebacker Lio’undre Gallimore.

Honorable mentions included Goleman players Jose Valdivia, John Correa, John Wright and James Gonzalez, and Mater Academy players Rayne Tanega-Doster, Tyler Milord, Jarell Knight, Travon Roberts and Lentivane Lisane. 

For 5A and Independent, First Team defense honors included Pace senior linebacker D’Andre Ragin, who recorded 103 tackles, two interceptions returned for touchdowns, and Pace junior defensive back Divvad Wilson, who registered five interceptions and 80 tackles.
Second Team offense included Pace senior offensive lineman Rey Dorta, and Third Team offense included Pace sophomore offensive lineman Bryner Joseph, and Third Team defense included Pace sophomore defensive lineman Kamryn Giles.

Honorable mentions included Pace players Matias Rodriguez and Stefon Francis.    

For swimming and diving, boys’ first team included Mater Academy senior Julio Horrego, who was state runner-up in Class 3A with a time of 56.31 in the 100 breast stroke.

Honorable mentions included Mater Academy swimmers and divers Vanessa Mesa, Liz Traviesio, Melanie Jimenes and Ana Kondratovitch, Mater Lakes’ Gabriela Fernandez and Pamela Garcia and Hialeah Miami Lakes’ Jocelyn Ruiz. 

For girls’ volleyball in Class 9A-7A, honorable mentions included Hialeah Miami Lakes players Noelys Martinez, Aileen Martinez, Juliette Camejo, Rosaline Gutierrez, Roise Gutierrez and Syann Mark.

For boys’ golf, an honorable mention went to American player Gustavo Hernandez, and for the girls, honorable mentions included American players Kelcie Jackson, Kayla Humes, Tyra Robinson and Chelsea Clare. 

For Cross Country, girls’ First Team included Mater Academy freshmen Valerie Lastra, who finished state runner-up with a time of 18:00, and Mater Academy eight grader Jinah Mickens-Malik, who finished ninth in at state with a time of 18:40.
Lastra won the regional and district championships.
