Three volleyball stars were selected this year to the Girls Select Team. Two of them were part of the Florida delegation last year where they won Gold. This is the first time three athletes have been selected from the same team and club in South Florida. Elaisa Villar, Angeles Alderete and Taylor Pagan all attend Mater Academy and play for High Voltage Volleyball Academy.
The High Performance (HP) Championships are a major step in USA Volleyball’s path to the podium. The event is a coed international tournament held in the US with the purpose of developing the international game of youth athletes in the US. The tournament returns to Fort Lauderdale, which last hosted in 2017.
Approximately 145 teams from region HP teams, international teams and teams from the USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline will participate. Currently registered international teams include Canada, Chile, Liberia, New Zealand, Peru and Puerto Rico.
The competition takes place from July 18 - 22 at the Broward County Convention Center.
