MDC volleyball team loses during national finals

Miami Dade College women’s volleyball team’s quest for a third straight national championship has come to an end.
The Lady Sharks (32-2) fell to the Golden Eagles of the College of Southern Idaho in three sets of the 2018 NJCAA Volleyball Championship match in Hutchinson, Kansas. The Golden Eagles repaid the Sharks after last year's championship match.
Coach Kiko Origenes first-seeded Lady Sharks advanced to the final day of the 16-team tournament with a 3-2 win against No. 5-seeded Iowa Western Community College, along with wins against 9th seeded Trinity Valley and the opening match against Monroe College.
The semifinal match against Iowa Western Community College went down to the wire all the way to five sets, with Miami Dade College coming out with the win.
