MDC volleyball's Kiko Benoit is AVCA coach of the year finalist

Miami Dade College women’s volleyball coach Origenes "Kiko" Benoit has been selected by Region Eight as the 2018 AVCA Two-Year Colleges Region Coaches of the Year. Each of the honorees will represent their region on the 2018 AVCA Two-Year Colleges National Coach of the Year ballot.
The awards will be officially presented at the 2018 Jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon in Minneapolis at American Volleyball Coaches Association Convention this month. Benoit won the same honor on five occasions, 2005, 2009, 2014, 2017 and 2018.
In his 13th season as the head coach of the Sharks, Benoit lead his team to back-to-back NJCAA National Championships in 2016 and 2017. The team fell short of winning a third consecutive title this season. Also, the Lady Sharks went undefeated in divisional play for two seasons and won four consecutive Southern Conference championships.
