A football rivalry between two Catholic high school teams in Miami will turn points scored on the football field into turkeys in the homes of poor families for Thanksgiving.

Pace High School and Belen Jesuit Preparatory School are donating $10 per point scored in the “Turkey Bowl 2016” towards the annual food drive of the Knights of Columbus, council 3274.

The Knight of Columbus will present the winning team with the game’s traveling trophy, a “Silver Turkey Platter” engraved with the helmet designs of both teams and the scores and winners of previous years of football games between Pace and Belen.

This charitable football competition is the continuation of a tradition started is 2007 by Douglas Austin, Pace alumni, Class of 1981 and Belen alumni Jorge Varela, both members of the Knights of Columbus Coral Gables Council.

The game will be held on Friday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Pace High School Spartan Field in Miami Gardens.
