Pace High holds Career Day and honors a NFL football alumnus

Monsignor Edward Pace High School (PACE) hosted its annual Career Day on March 20 offering students with the opportunity to meet professionals from a variety of career paths. Throughout the morning students attended various sessions and asked valuable questions about career options. Students received advice on reaching their future goals and interacted with professionals in law, financial planning, healthcare and marketing as well as government careers.
PACE ended the day with a special NFL event celebrating Spartan alumnus and Indianapolis Colts (COLTS) linebacker, Anthony Walker Jr. PACE students gathered in the gym as Walker Jr. spoke about his academic and athletic journey. After graduating PACE in 2013 he continued to play football at Northwestern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational change.
His collegiate success on the field resulted in Walker being drafted by the COLTS in 2017. Fellow PACE alumni and athletes in attendance were former University of Miami linebacker Roderick “Rod” Mack, quarterback Stephen Morris and Houston Texans cornerback Kayvon Webster.
Walker gave a special thanks to the school’s faculty and staff for always believing in him and gave special recognition to his father, Anthony Walker who is currently PACE’s dean of students. He thanked him for the sacrifices made and for being a constant source of support throughout his life. The crowd applauded as his NFL jersey was revealed on the school’s Wall of Fame and a signed COLTS football was tossed to principal Ana Garcia. At the end of the presentation Walker presented the school with a check for $5,000 that will go toward the school’s football program.
