Scholar Athlete award for MDC's Arsenily Andreev

Miami Dade College men’s basketball player Arseniy Andreev was awarded the Hal Chasey Scholar Athlete Award for his performance in the classroom and basketball court for 2018-2019.
Arseniy is an outstanding student and an active second season participant of the Sharks basketball team. On the court he is a leader and great competitor. He is a two year captain and starter at the point guard position.
As a Freshmen he averaged 9.0 points and 4.6 assists and as a sophomore he is averaging 7.6 points and 4.5 assists per game. In the classroom, Arseniy has completed over 36 credits while maintaining a 3.87 GPA.
Andreev has been working with special needs students in the Miracle Basketball League, Great Heights Academy, and the Boys and Girls Club Of America. He also volunteers at the Humane Society of Greater Miami working with stray animals at the facility.
He has an academic background that showed his abilities to excel starting with high school where he graduated with honors from an American and Russian high school simultaneously. He successfully completed a five star Competitive edge course, is an active member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Applied Mathematics Research group and the Economics and Business Society.
