Gym enthusiasts have waited for the day and it finally arrived: On June 15, Shula’s Athletic Club in Miami Lakes reopened after being closed for months during the coronavirus pandemic.
What members will notice right away: The treadmills, StairMasters and elliptical machines as well as weights are spread out around the premises to maintain six feet of social distancing.
The cardio machines were placed in several locations, including on the basketball court.
Locker rooms will be closed; members must bring their own towels and water bottles.
Other guidelines to follow:
--Occupancy limits will be enforced.
--Members must wear masks when signing in, checking out and while walking around the facility.
--Gloves are not required but are recommended.
--Signs will direct the flow of people moving through the club.
--Only members who are not showing flu-like symptoms will be admitted.
--Free weights, dumbbells and barbells must be wiped after use and reracked.
--No classes are scheduled, but tennis lessons and personal training sessions are available.
--Reservations are required for the tennis courts.
--Credit cards or contactless payments are accepted, cash is not.
--Physical contact and congregating are not permitted.
