Shula's Golf Course to reopen Wednesday

The Senator Course at historic Shula’s Golf Club will reopen for play on Wednesday.
Life has changed for everyone coping with the COVID-19 outbreak, and that includes golfers who want to get back on the links.
During the reopening, the main goal will be the safety of staff and guests, the golf course said.
Players will be required to follow strict guidelines set by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez.
These guidelines include:
*Players will be responsible for loading and unloading their golf gear. Clubs or other equipment will not be transported by course staff.
*All guests will be instructed to maintain social distancing guidelines.
*Players may not touch the flag stick at any time. The cups have been altered so that the ball will not fall into the cup. Any ball that hits the cup or the noodle inserted into the cup will be considered holed.
*All golfers must have a valid starting time. Times may be booked at www.shulasgolfclub.com, on the course’s mobile app or by calling the pro shop, at 305-820-8088.
*Golf carts will be provided for single riders only, without exception.
*Walking the course, in addition to 9-holes, will be permitted at discounted rates.
*Golfers will be allowed to check in up to 30 minutes prior to starting time. All guests will be asked to remain in their vehicles if they arrive more than a half-hour early.
*All carts will be sanitized prior to usage by any golfer.
*The clubhouse, men’s and women’s locker rooms and the pro shop will all be closed to guests. A pro shop staffer will be available at a window on the north side of the building.
*Water fountains will be turned off and inaccessible; golfers are encouraged to bring their own water bottles and water may be purchased from the beverage cart.
*All transactions must be made by credit card.
*The driving range and putting green will be closed during the initial phase of the re-opening that begins April 29.
Shula’s Golf Course is at 7601 Miami Lakes Drive. Built when the town was developed by the Graham family in the early 1960s, it was originally called the Miami Lakes Inn & Golf Club.
Legendary NFL Coach Don Shula once had a home on the 16th hole when he led the Miami Dolphins.
The Graham family and Shula began a hospitality partnership in the late 1980s that included naming the golf course, restaurants and a hotel after Shula, including the original Shula’s Steak House at the golf course that celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019.
