The St. Thomas University men's golf team, ranked 13th in the NAIA, won the Webber Fall Classic last week at the Pinecrest Golf Club. The Bobcats dominated the event winning by 15 strokes over second place Keiser University.
It marked the second team championship of the season for St. Thomas, having also won the Webber Fall Invitational in September.
All five of the St. Thomas golfers finished in the top 12 of the individual standings. Carlos Andres Lara (70-76-73) and Daniel Gonzalez (72-80-67) tied for third with a score of 219. The 67 shot in the third round by Gonzalez was the lowest round of any golfer in the tournament.
Next for the Bobcats was Boris Thierry Sparfel (75-69-77) who finished in sixth place with a score of 221. Tying for seventh was Edgardo Arrazola (74-73-75) who shot 222 for the day. Rounding out the top 12 was Juan Pablo Arrazola (76-75-74) with a final score of 225.
St. Thomas finished in first place with a final team score of 873 (Rd. 1 291, Rd. 2 293, Rd. 3 289).
