STU baseball team helps out during Marlins All-Star Game

Former Miami Marlins All-Star Mike Lowell and St. Thomas University’s head baseball coach Jorge Perez are pictured at the 2017 MLB All-Star game at Marlins Park in Miami. The Bobcats team assisted on the field in a variety of roles during the All-Star Week festivities, including the Home Run Derby Rehearsal; serving as batting practice catchers for both events; and serving as bullpen catchers. “It was a once in a lifetime experience and I was happy for our players who were able to hit live batting practice at Marlins Park, walk around the clubhouse and see how a major league facility and clubhouse works behind the scenes,” said Perez. “I feel fortunate to have been a part of it and fortunate to be at St. Thomas because without STU's Sports Administration program, this would have never been possible.”
